La Grotta
La Grotta (The Cave) is a project inspired by the legend of Aeolus, the warden who, according to Greek mythology, guarded the winds inside a cave on the homonymous islands. La Grotta is a journey that explores the ethereal beauty and wild power of the wind through a meticulously curated blend of cultural, technical, and artistic elements that transcend epochs and boundaries.
Initially conceived as a glossary, La Grotta assembles over 400 names of winds from around the world, expanding its scope to include myths and legends, religions, poems, and scientific details about the behavior of the wind. These diverse perspectives collectively capture the essence of the wind, an element as destructive as it is delicate.
The project reflects the interpretation given to the theme in every aspect. From the choice of papers and printing techniques to the unique binding, which with a simple release gesture would leave the book at the mercy of the wind, losing all its pages. This approach is reflected not only in the content editing and visual presentation but also in the central insert, which offers a freer and more artistic storytelling, based on thorough research but focused on a more ethereal and open-ended narrative.
